Company

Built to realize the full potential of liquid biopsy to transform cancer detection.

Avant Genomics™ is a University of Virginia spin-out founded to standardize and automate sample preparation for cell-free DNA testing — the step that ensures reliable samples for optimal cancer detection and monitoring.

Our story

From a microfluidics lab to a company built on reliability.

Liquid biopsy promised a simpler path to early detection and monitoring — but the workflow behind it stayed stubbornly manual. Sample prep alone spans 50+ hands-on steps, and every one of them introduces variability that compounds by the time a result reaches a clinician.

A decade of microfluidics and nucleic-acid research at the University of Virginia became the foundation for Avant Source™ — an enclosed fluidic cartridge and benchtop instrument that collapses that workflow into two steps: load the sample, remove the cartridge.

Our mission is to democratize access to precision oncology by making blood-based cancer detection faster, more inexpensive, and more reliable — starting with automated liquid biopsy sample preparation.

What we believe

Every sample deserves its best chance

Behind every plasma sample is a patient. Sample preparation should maximize the information available for downstream analysis, not compromise it.

Automation should earn your trust

Automation isn't valuable because it's automated. It's valuable when it delivers reliable, reproducible results that scientists can count on every day.

Great technology should expand access

High-quality liquid biopsy workflows shouldn't be limited to a handful of specialized laboratories. Better tools make better testing possible for more patients.
